Bespoke Framing

Framing has two purposes; to enhance the presentation of artwork and, most importantly, to protect it.

Framing styles can vary enormously and at Gallery 128 we pride ourselves on being able to offer a complete range of both traditional and contemporary frames.

Picture Frames WimbledonOur service includes free and expert consultation with you and your pieces of art. Advice on mounting and choice from an extensive range of frames and mouldings, always keeping in mind your personal preferences and budget.

Our advice can extend to a home visit to explore different options in the comfort of your home environment. Armed with swatches and colour charts we can make sure that a frame will fit in with the décor and surroundings in which it will live.

Our service is also for those of you who purely have works of art that require sensitivity in their presentation. All of the materials we use and recommend comply with current conservation standards as set down within the industry.

We are able to frame to museum quality standards.

Framing - Protective Glazing

Our policy at Gallery 128 is to advise on the best available glazing options for each framing project. We can recommend anything from standard picture glass to anti U.V and specialist non reflective glass for more valuable pieces where fading from natural daylight or viewing your artwork correctly is an issue.

For outsized artwork and pieces that are to be living in a public access areas we recommend using Perspex with or without U.V filtration or non reflective qualities. We particularly insist upon this where Health and safety policies are to be followed.

Framing - Installation

The process of presentation isn't complete until the piece is in its final location. We work with a team of professional art installers who can advise on all aspects of installation, including security, hanging, layout and lighting. It is important to use professional fine-art handlers when transporting artwork; we have our own collection and delivery service within London and can recommend art shippers on a national and international level.

Even with a museum-standard frame to protect it, a work of art is at risk of deteriorating if it is not hung properly. Its condition can still be affected by such factors as light, temperature, humidity and airborne pollutants, so it is essential to take great care to provide a safe environment for your piece.

We enjoy working on a one to one basis with artists, providing a bespoke service for surfaces and material requirements. If you'd like to arrange for us to visit your studio to discuss how we can look after your requirements, please email Charles Kean-Hammerson charles@gallery128.co.uk

Framing - Conservation

We have access to teams of skilled conservators who have years of experience working on demanding and complex projects. We are able to offer advice in many fields which include works of art on paper, oil paintings, period furniture and other specialist items including ceramics and statuary. If you need advice on items damaged by the ravages of time or possibly accidental damage by flood or some other means, we are here to help you through the difficult processes and give you peace of mind that your valuable pieces are in safe hands.
